Continuing our Interviews, we turn the spotlight on the gently heart of Caroline Deaton, who plays the cheer queen Emma Francis. The object of Aaron’s affections and girlfriend of one big dude named Caboose.
Hometown: Nashville, TN
I met God when?: When I was a little baptist girl in Sunday School. It was my birthday wish when I was turning 10 years old that Jesus would live in my heart.
I started acting when?: My very first role was Dolly Parton in my 1st grade play & I did my first commercial when I was 7 years old.
When I’m not acting on Coffeeteria I am: Attending Carson Newman College majoring in Theatre and Religion, taking things and people way too seriously, singing and dancing around (on or off stage), ministering to middle school students.
I really love the show/movie/play? The broadway production WICKED captures my whole heart and being. The few times I sit in front of the tv, I absolutely cannot miss ‘Glee’ or ‘The Office’. As far as movies go, ‘Enchanted’ speaks to me in a way no other movie does
that, and ‘White Christmas’.
Favorite Bible Verse?: Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Role I would love to play?: You mean dream roles? If so: Glinda in ‘Wicked’, Sally in ‘You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown’, Ariel in “The Little Mermaid”, Penny in “Hairspray”, Belle in ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Minnie Fay’ in Hello Dolly.
Favorite Coffee Drink: Iced Carmel latte.
I’m like my character in that: We both like to fix things with people and/or situations… and sometimes it gets us in trouble.
I’m not like my character in that: I am slightly more hot tempered than Emma is- she forgives easier than I do.
Advice I would give my character: My own personal motto: Make good choices!!
If I could write an episode of Coffeeteria I would: Have Cindy’s character fall for Barrett! and place the setting in Disney World.
The line I totally ad libed was: There’s a scene between Emma and Caboose in Volume 2 where I exclaim and accuse: “JUST kissing?!”
Ok now to the good stuff. In the episode about Betrayal Emma and Cindy have a cat fight! Care to respond to the rumors that you and Jenson (Cindy) have a bitter rivalry off screen as well? What rumors?! Bitter Rivalry?! I love Jenson! She is such a wonderful blessing to work with and even know as a friend… we hang out on and off the set and have a blast whenever we do
Nice Spin. So what about the Rumors about you and Jason Burkey (Aaron). Word is the on screen chemistry holds true off screen! Care to comment? Where are these rumors coming from? The empty space in the director’s head he claims as ‘wit’?
So I’ll write down No Comment: No comment needed! Jason is a very dear friend of mine
thats all!
That’s not a denial but you sure are using lots of smiley faces. Anyway moving on. You and Austin (Barrett) sure seem cozy! There’s rumors about some type of love triangle between you and him and Jason. Care to comment? [long pause] [heavy sigh] You caught me.
Finally! Now we’re getting somewhere. Ok now what’s up with you Blackmailing Drew (Caboose), What do you have on him anyway? You’re silly. I’m gonna go.
Wait, ok we’ll play nice. Let’s talk about your fellow cast members, who is the most fun to work with? Just between us! That’s mean! I love working with every single cast member… I simply cannot single one out- they are all wonderful! And so different from each other- we have so much fun when we are all on set. Cannot compare! Nope! You can’t make me!
So Word is you’ve been in a few music videos! Tell us which ones and some gossip about the artist! Come on you can trust us! My first music video was Clay Walker’s “Live, Laugh, and Love” video. Since then, I’ve been on numerous sets and have appeared in Martina McBride’s “Blessed” and “This One’s For the Girls” (1:48 in+). As far as gossip goes, Martina McBride is one of the sweetest people on this Earth and she remembers me every time I see her!
Fav Scene to shoot (To Date)?: The ‘girl fight’ scene with Jenson (Cindy)
Fav Scene to watch (To Date)?: The First Scene in Volume 2. It shows what happened to Aaron, but I’m not allowed to talk about it.
How would you end Coffeeteria? I speak for all girls watching Coffeeteria when I say that if Emma and Aaron do not end up together SOMEHOW… a mutiny will arrise. Other than that, I haven’t really thought about it!
Scene I dislike the most: From Volume 2, the scene that begins “What was I supposed to say? ‘Hey, where are your pants?’”- I felt somewhat awkward shooting that scene because I was uncertain of where Emma was coming from, and I was having a very trying day that day and I think everytime I watch that scene… I feel that vibe!
Best direction I have been give (To Date)?: I cannot simply choose between all the perfected directions I have been given.
How attractive would you say your character is?: Emma has an inner beauty that is obvious to anyone that lays eyes on her.
I was nervous to shoot this scene: The scene [in Vol 2] in Emma’s father’s room while she is searching through his stuff for money and yells at him. I knew it was an important scene and didn’t want to mess it up!
Funny thing happened on set! Really? Do tell: While shooting a scene for Vol 2 with Jason, James Marsden [X-Men, Enchanted, 27 Dresses] and his family walked by the set and smiled at us!
Really “Cyclops” from X-men walked by the set? Is this some sort of set up to a joke? Trying to pull a fast one? No I promise! He walked by with his family and smirked…. it’s my theory he was thinking about one of two things: “awwe, young actors! how cute!” or “hey, that blonde chick is really cute and talented. I’m going to get her to be in my next movie…” I’m pretty sure it was the second one!
Wow! So any other famous people pop by the set? Tom Cruise maybe stop in and say hello? Actually, yes! Kimberly Williams Paisley stopped by the Coffeeteria while we were shooting, too!
So the Coffeeteria is one happening hot spot for Celeb’s and Coffee lovers alike!
Ok last question. Make up a question you wish you were asked, then answer it?: What is a fear of yours? I have an intense phobia of ducks and camels….
